As a concerned taxpayer and Rumney resident I have started this blog to provide information relevant to the residents of Rumney, NH regarding:
- Your right to know where your tax dollars go
- Issues which impact the taxpayers
- Openness in the conduct of public business
The right to know law RSA 91-A:1 states “Openness in the conduct of public business is essential to a democratic society. The purpose of this chapter is to ensure both the greatest possible public access to the actions, discussions and records of all public bodies, and their accountability to the people.”
My goal is to bring greater awareness to the Rumney community of the actions taken by our local government. I believe that whenever someone advocates for transparency and full disclosure by shining light on the activities of local elected officials, that information serves to help voters make informed decisions.
